Adopt new strategies IG tells police officials

​Chittoor: Rayalaseema Range IG N Sridhar Rao exhorted police officials to adopt innovative strategies in curbing red sanders logs smuggling. The IG reviewed the law and order situation in the district at District Police Office here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Rao patted district police for their efforts to nab air hostess-turned-international red sanders smuggler Sangeetha Chatterjee.

He informed police officials that the DGP JV Ramudu gave instructions to Police department to act firmly against smugglers of red sanders logs.

The IG expressed anguish over smuggling of red sanders logs going unabated despite consistent efforts of RSASTF and district police. He directed police personnel to upgrade their skills in tackling various offences so that confidence can be instilled among people.

Sridhar Rao asked police officials to end traffic menace in major cities like Chittoor and Tirupati. “Police officials should give importance for protecting interests of women and neglected sections of the society,” he added.

District SP G Srinivas has explained the measures taken by the police in curbing the red sanders logs smuggling. The SP enlisted different activities undertaken in various towns to create awareness on traffic. DSP Lakshmi Naidu gave PowerPoint presentation on steps being taken to reduce crime rate in the city. District Police Office and expressed satisfaction.
