The bank, which has introduced the micro ATMs and had streamlined the payment of pension and other financial benefits to the people through the bank correspondents in Krishna district, has announced that it will extend the services across the district to help the rural masses.

​Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector Babu Ahmad here on Wednesday distributed 250 micro ATMs to the people. The Collector, after inaugurating the 50th branch of the IDFC Bank in Krishnalanka, formally handed over the micro ATMs to the beneficiaries who have been appointed as business correspondents of the bank in the district.

The bank, which has introduced the micro ATMs and had streamlined the payment of pension and other financial benefits to the people through the bank correspondents in Krishna district, has announced that it will extend the services across the district to help the rural masses.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the Team Krishna had initiated steps to make people as bankers. He said that poor women and small vendors were made bankers with the micro ATMs through which people could deposit their money, withdraw and avail loans. He asked the bank business correspondents to be honest and carryout the activities with dedication.

While complimenting the initiative of the IDFC Bank for coming forward to take the banking services to the doorsteps of the people, the Collector said that the administration had launched the programme on May 1 this year which had become a pilot project for the nation. The e-payments had won the appreciation of the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Ministry, he added.

He also wanted other banks to start reaching out to the people. He congratulated the IDFC for opening its first branch in the State in the new capital.

The Collector further said that the administration was planning to streamline 2,165 fair price shops and 1,100 fertiliser shops with the micro ATMs for supply of essential commodities and fertilisers to the beneficiaries.

The bank managing director, Rajiv Lall, said that the bank was extending the direct cash benefit to the beneficiaries through the micro ATMs. He thanked the Krishna district administration for supporting the bank in reaching out to the real beneficiaries handling the banking activities.

Stating that the bank had appointed the members of the Self-Help Groups and the small vendors as business correspondents, Rajiv Lall wanted them to make better use of the facility extended to them. The Collector formally handed over the micro ATMs to the newly-appointed bank correspondents from Krishna district who are members of the SHGs and small vendors.

The bank’s Bharat Banking head Ravi Shankar, digital payment head Raghavan Venkatesh, State officer Sangeeta Singh and others were present.
