Eluru: West Godavari District Collector Katamneni Bhaskar pulled up officials over delay in calling for tenders for various sanctioned works. He conducted a review meeting with the officials of various departments on the progress of works undertaken under the MPLADS at the Collectorate here on Friday.

Addressing the officials, the Collector questioned executive engineer Srinivas on why the tenders were not called for agriculture canal works at Perupalem (south) village in Mogalturu mandal under the MPLADS sanctioned by Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi even though orders were sanctioned on September 3, 2015 and expressed anger over officials for not responding even though he had recommended for action four times.

He warned of stern action against slack officials. While reviewing the functioning of Rural Water Supply department, the Collector vented ire at the officials for not completing the works within stipulated time and directed superintendent engineer Amareswara Rao to pay Rs 3,000 for each delayed day.

He further questioned why the micro filter works taken up on January 2014 in Bommidi village of Unguturu mandal have not been completed.

The SE informed the Collector that contractor hails from Telangana and stopped the work midway. The Collector questioned the SE on why the contractor was not blacklisted.

The Collector also reviewed the progress of works undertaken under the MPLADS of Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi, MPs Gokaraju Ganga Raju, Thota Sitharama Lakshmi, K V P Ramachandra Rao and Maganti Babu.
