Visakhapatnam: The Two Town police on Friday arrested Mahendra Singh Suri (43) on charges of killing his younger brother Anand Suri (32) by slashing his throat with a knife on June 20.

Inspector of Two Town Police Station P V Ramana said Anand and Mahendra belong to Sindhi Community and the brothers split after Anand fell in love with Bobby, a Muslim girl, and married her six years ago. Police said that Mahendra and his mother didn’t allow the couple into their home over property dispute and later the couple moved to Adarshnagar area in the city.

The police said Anand used to visit Mahendra’s fancy shop near Spring Road at Poorna Market in the city and used to demand money. Fed up with the harassment meted out to him by his alcoholic brother, Mahendra Singh Suri slit Anand’s throat with a knife in front of the shop. Based on the complaint from Bobby, the police arrested the accused.
