Raising slogans, the angry leaders and activists of Fishermen Societies staged the rasta rook paralysing the traffic for 15 minutes on the national highway.  The mob not only ransacked the houses, but also snatched gold chains from the women, the  irate leaders pointed out.  

Payakaraopet (Visakhapatnam): Leaders of Fishermen Societies of Visakha and East Godavari districts staged a rasta roko on the National Highway-16 near Tuni on Thursday condemning the mob attack at Palmanpet village in the mandal recently.
They demanded the police to take stringent action against those persons who were invovled in the vandalism.

Raising slogans, the angry leaders and activists of Fishermen Societies staged the rasta rook paralysing the traffic for 15 minutes on the national highway.

The mob not only ransacked the houses, but also snatched gold chains from the women, the irate leaders pointed out.
The leaders warned of State-wide agitation if the government fails to initiate action against the accused.

They further stated that they will approach Human Rights Commission seeking justice if the government did not respond. Meanwhile, 58 persons were arrested so far in connection with the incident.

Leaders of Fishermen Societies M Gurunath, Appalaraju, K Ramana, Gauri, Gaara, Kare Krishna, Gosala Tata Rao, D Sreenu,
V Satyanarayana, MPTC Kasi Visweswara Rao and others took part in the the protest. Meanwhile, the situation at Palmanpet village is under control, according to police.
