Kurnool: While reiterating that the TDP government was committed to the welfare of the Muslim community, Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy hoped that every Muslim should celebrate Ramzan in grand manner He launched the free distribution of Ramzan Tohfa to the white ration card holders here at Umar Arabic School premises on Friday.
On the occasion, he said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was striving hard for development of Muslim community and had introduced several schemes.
He said Rs 710 crore was allocated for Muslims, besides the government providing loan on subsidy for poor Muslims, Dulhan scheme for the marriage of poor Muslim girls and safeguarding Wakf properties. “The government is also pursuing the promise of extending four per cent reservations to Muslims,” he added.
An Urdu University was also sanctioned at Orvakal which would be constructed in an extent of 150 acres, he said and added that Kurnool holds large number of Muslim population.
Kurnool MLA S V Mohan Reddy lauded the Chief Minister, who has accorded honorariums to Peshwa Mouzams. Problems pertaining to the Muslims have been taken to the notice of Chief Minister, who has assured resolution after the Ramzan festival, by holding talks with the Muslim heads, he said.
Joint Collector said around 2, 06,559 white ration card holders across the district were availing the Chandranna Ramzan Tohfa. Each card holder would be served with five kg of wheat flour, two kg of sugar, one kilo of Vermicelli and 100 grams of ghee worth of Rs 340, he stated.
DSO Thippe Naik, DM Civil Supplies Venkatesham, District Minority Welfare Officer Shaik Mastan Vali were present on the occasion.
