Vijayawada: MP Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani lashed out at BJP for politicising demolition of temples. He alleged that a local BJP leader was trying to benefit from the issue.

He was reacting to the remarks by BJP leaders Kanna Lakshminarayana, Somu Veerraju and others that the TDP government was hurting the sentiments of the Hindus by demolishing the temples.

The MP convened a press conference at his office on Sunday and came down heavily on the BJP leaders and accused them of adopting double standards.

The BJP government in Gujarat demolished 80 temples and 300 houses for the development works and here the BJP leaders were creating hurdles for development,” he ridiculed.

Taking indirect potshots at Narasapuram MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, Nani said that the BJP leader, who has never spoken about funds for Polavaram and special railway zone, was overtly interested about the temples in Vijayawada.

TDP is adhering to alliance dharma and never criticised BJP. However, the same cannot be said about our alliance partner,” he averred. The MP refuted the allegation that the government was not giving prior information to the temple committees about the demolition of structures. “We are even taking up measures for the allocation of alternative land for the Gosala and demolished temples in the city,” he asserted.

He accused a local BJP leader of playing cheap politics, misleading the party and provoking the TDP leaders for his personal benefit.
