Vijayawada: The historical Undavalli Caves are decked up for the Krishna Pushkaralu, starting from August 12. The State government is leaving no stone unturned to make the once-in -a-12-year event most memorable this time. The officials have spruced up the villages along River Krishna with more focus on Vijayawada city where the main event would be held.

The temples and the tourist places along the river, particularly around Vijayawada city are being kept ready for the mega event.

Undavalli Caves, which belong to the 4th century have four storied structure in which the relaxing Lord Vishnu is seen in the first floor. The caves are a must for any visitor to the city and the officials, anticipating a huge number of pilgrims visiting the centre, have kept the caves ready.

Once the abode of Buddhists, the caves have slowly turned into Hindu assets with Lord Vishnu idol carved in a single stone is found.
