A contingent of 93 cadets escorted by four staff members of Sainik School Korukonda set out on a “Sea Sortie” (one day sailing in the sea) on Saturday. 

Vizianagaram: A contingent of 93 cadets escorted by four staff members of Sainik School Korukonda set out on a “Sea Sortie” (one day sailing in the sea) on Saturday.

They were also accompanied by another contingent of 99 cadets and 02 escorts from Sainik School Bhubaneswar, Orissa. The Sea Sortie was organized by the Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. The participants of a sea sortie are taken on board Naval Ships in the Eastern Naval Command and taken into the sea.

They spend an entire day in the sea along with the naval crew and get an exposure to the life of a Naval Officer while on duty in the rough sea.

They are shown the entire ship and interact with all the officers and soldiers on board the ship. Both the contingents were flagged off from the school by the Off Principal Lt Col Praveen Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion he said that the team has to be mentally and physically be strong to overcome the seasickness and withstand the rough sea. He added that the aim of this sea sortie is to provide an opportunity to the young students to have a live experience of the life of a Naval Officer.
