25 red sanders logs seized 5 held
Speaking to media here, RSASTF police station DSP Sridhar Rao said that the task force personnel along with Nimmanapalli police acting on creditable information took up searches in Tavalam leading to the recovery of 12 red sanders logs hidden in a field.
Tirupati: The personnel of Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) took five persons into custody and seized 25 red sanders logs from two different places in the district including Tavalam village in Nimmanapalli mandal and near TUDA quarters in Mangalam area, here on Tuesday.
Speaking to media here, RSASTF police station DSP Sridhar Rao said that the task force personnel along with Nimmanapalli police acting on creditable information took up searches in Tavalam leading to the recovery of 12 red sanders logs hidden in a field.
In this connection, five people were arrested. They are Gajendra, Devendra, Sivaprasad, Ramakrishna and Yella Reddy. The DSP said that enquiry is on to find out whether the logs were hidden in the field by the smugglers with the connivance of Janardhan Gupta, who owes land, for taking action against him also under the amended Forest Act.
This apart, the task force police also seized a car along with 13 red sanders logs near TUDA quarters in Mangalam area. Acting on a tip off, task force police inspected the car remaining abandoned leading to the recovery of the logs.
