Anantapur: A 10-member National Investigation Agency (NIA) team along with the accused Mohamed Ibrahim who was arrested with other terrorist outfit members in Hyderabad recently, arrived here in the early hours of Wednesday, to check the veracity of their confession about their stay in the city a couple of months ago reportedly in search of weapons suppliers.

The team brought along with them the arrested member Mohamed who along with two others stayed for three days in a hotel near RTC bus stand by name Nandi Residency and occupied room number 202 to find contacts who would supply weapons to them.

The police believe the suspects might have searched for arms suppliers who used to supply arms to faction leaders in early 2000s. NIA team questioned the lodge owners and staff and found that room was booked in the name of one Rizwan.

They studied the demography of the city and the vicinity of the lodge and after meeting local police, returned to Hyderabad after spending a few hours in the city. Among a population of 3 lakhs in the municipal city limits, more than a one third are Muslims.
