Vijayawada: With an aim to empower tribals politically, a new body under the banner of Girijana Sena was launched here on Sunday.
Tribal leaders from across the State attended the inaugural function held at Vijayawada Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, founder-president of the Girijana Sena Bukke Nagendra Naik said the tribal body was formed with an aim to capture power with the support of SC, BC, and minorities. “We are striving hard to create awareness among tribals, and the need to capture power by emulating the likes of Dr B R Ambedkar, Jyotirao Phule and Kanshi Ram,” he said after the inauguration.
The tribal body will function with an elaborate organisation set-up running from village to State-level, and committees are being formed for the purpose, he added.
Bahujana Sena State convener Nerrella Raju, Dalita Bahujana Front State general secretary Mellam Bhagya Rao and All India Banjara Seva Sangam State general Secretary S Venkata Ramana Naik were present.
