Anantapur: IT and Minorities Welfare Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy warned that contractors will be blacklisted if they failed to complete the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) and High Level Canal (HLC) works in time as per the expectations of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He further added that the twin projects would be completed by June 2017.Addressing a review meeting along with Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha at the DWAMA conference hall here on Tuesday, Palle asked the Collector to remove the lethargic contractors from the prestigious projects in which the Chief Minister had been taking keen interest.

He said that the HNSS and HLC modernisation works must be completed within the scheduled time for giving water to the farmers and to meet the drinking water needs of the people in the district.

The Minister said that 11.5 tmc ft water had been brought to the district last year which helped in filling up of the village tanks and groundwater sources. 23,000 borewells and 23 irrigation tanks were filled with water apart from irrigating 79,000 acres of crop lands in the district.

Every drop of rain water would be conserved and 1,847 works were sanctioned under the Neeru-Chettu programme, he added.
Sunitha asked the irrigation project officials to ensure supply of water to Alamuru, Kakkalapalle and other villages around and prepare estimates for the same.
