Visakhapatnam: Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley’s reply to the short discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act dashed the hopes of people of Uttarandhra, said former minister Konathala Ramakrishna.

Speaking to The Hans India on Saturday, he said: “Arun Jaitley said that the Centre accepts the responsibility of providing funds to Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema, which was included in the Act, without mentioning how they would alleviate the two backward regions. Notably, the Union Minister did not assure Special Category Status to the State.”

Jaitley’s acceptance of responsibility is no great of generosity,” he flayed. He said that the Centre released Rs 300 crore in the past two years to the north coastal Andhra districts under special package for backward districts. People of entire north Andhra, who showed restraint so far, were serious as both the BJP and the TDP governments were ill treating them, he pointed out.

Konathala appealed to all the political parties, leaders, academicians, intellectuals, students, youth and NGOs to join their hands to secure the future of Uttarandhra.
