Vijayawada: The BJP on Monday cautioned its ally TDP against falling in the trap of the Opposition parties in the name of special category status.

Speaking to press persons, BJP State general secretary J Shyam Kishore referred to the statements of the TDP leaders and MPs, besides Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the special category status and attributing intentions to the BJP, and said that the TDP was being carried away by the emotional blackmailing by the Opposition parties.

He alleged that the Opposition parties had taken up the issue of special category status only for their political existence. “Some parties have disappeared from the political map of the State, while YSRCP had failed as an Opposition party. Now, they are trying to prove their existence, and I fear the TDP may fall into the trap,” he said.

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had adopted AP as a special state and had given funds and Central institutions, besides other benefits in a record time. “The government had given Rs 1.42 lakh crore to the State; had started nine out of 11 Central institutions, and is willing to give more in different form,” he said. He said the NDA government was committed to the overall development of AP, and advised the people not to be carried away by the opposition parties.
