Kurnool: Collector Challa Vijay Mohan took a holy dip at Pathala Ganga VIP ghat in the early hours on Friday amidst Vedic hymns marking the commencement of Krishna Pushkaralu. While reiterating that all arrangements were in place to help devotees, the Collector urged them not to use shampoos and soaps while taking a holy dip.

The Collector asked authorities of the Mallikarjuna Swamy and Bramarambika Devi temples to maintain queue lines to help pilgrims have darshan of deities without any inconvenience. He urged the temple authorities to provide hassle-free darshan of Mallikarjuna Swamy and Bramarambika Devi for the visiting pilgrims.

Legislative Council deputy chairman S V Satish Kumar Reddy took a holy dip along with his family. He said the government was making all efforts to make Krishna Pushkaralu as a prestigious event.

District officials take holy dipJoint Collector C Hari Kiran officially launched the Krishna Pushkaralu at Sangameswaram on Friday at 5.58 am after offering prayers to the confluence of the seven rivers.

Veda Pandit Telkapalli Raghu Ram Sharma chanted the religious hymns while giving ‘pavitra harathi’ to the river. After the completion of formalities, Superintendent of Police Ake Ravi Krishna, Joint Collector C Hari Kiran, Zilla Parishad chairman Mallella Rajashekhar Goud and Additional Superintendent of Police Chandrasekhar Reddy took the holy dip.

The large congregation of devotees took the holy bath at Lalitha Devi Ghat and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva. Devotees, who came from faraway places availed the shuttle services provided by the government to reach Sangameswaram and Lalitha Devi Ghats after arriving at Sangameshwar Nagar and Pushkar Nagar.

The devotees expressed satisfaction at the arrangements made at the bathing ghats. Around eight thousand devotees are believed to have taken the holy dip at Sangameswaram.
