Vijayawada: After successfully conducting the electrical works during the 12-day Krishna Pushkaralu last month, the Southern Power
Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) Vijayawada division is gearing up to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Durga temple and
nearby areas during nine-day Dasara Navarathri festival next month.

It may be recalled Dasara is celebrated in a grand fashion in Vijayawada every year. The demand for supply of power increases in and
around Durga temple by four times during the festival every year. Lakhs of bulbs will be used to illuminate the Durga temple. Demand for
power supply is about 160 KW for the Durga temple.

During Dasara festival, the demand for supply increases to 800 KW to 900 KW. To meet the extra demand, the SPDCL is installing five
more temporary transformers near the Durga temple in addition to the existing three transformers.

The SPDCL Vijayawada Divisional Manager, A Muralimohan, told ‘The Hans India’ that his department was taking measures to ensure
uninterrupted power supply.
