Nellore: YSRCP and TDP MLAs demanded the district administration to provide jobs to local youth in major industries and SEZs in the district. Zilla Parishad general body meeting was held here on Friday under chairmanship of the Zilla Parishad chairman B Raghavendra Reddy.
Sarvepalli MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy said that priority should be given for local jobless youth in the industries. He also said that funds under Corporate Social Responsibility were being diverted for other needs and there would be no meaning for social development activities by companies if local people were neglected.
MLC B Ravichandra said the district administration has to arrange skill development training to the eligible family members of people, who lost their lands, as part of land acquisition in industrial areas and SEZs for better employment opportunities in the industries whom they had provided lands.
MLC V Narayana Reddy suggested for a comprehensive survey on employment for local people in the industries. Atmakur legislator M Gowtham Reddy appealed to allocate some quota of employment for jobless of upland mandals.
District Collector R Mutyala Raju said they had conducted a review meetings twice with managements of private industries for providing employment to local population. He said they were planning to give skill development training for youth.
Furthermore, Zilla Parishad chairman B Raghavendra Reddy said Zilla Parishad would provide reading material to the students from sixth to 10 according to revised syllabus.
DEO M Ramalingam explained that teachers were undergoing training on revised syllabus and Zilla Parishad chairman suggested to the education department to plant more saplings on the premises of schools for greenery and maintain bio-fencing.
