Chittoor: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that there was no question of a compromise on the Special Category Status (SCS) to the State despite the false propaganda by the opposition parties.

He said that Congress and BJP had together played a wicked role in the unscientific bifurcation of the State whereas the TDP was working for the development of the State. The CM arrived in the district at K Paattur village in Ramakuppam mandal on Monday. He interacted with the farmers of Gummareddipalle and Bairupalli and examined the rain guns there.

He enquired about the progress of Pantasanjeevani and Neeru Chettu schemes in the villages from the farmers. Interacting with the farmers of V Kota mandal, the CM promised to save their withering crops by supplying rain guns to them. Addressing a public meeting in V Kota, he said that he was relentlessly striving to get SCS accorded to the State whereas the opposition parties were merely raking up the issue for political mileage.

He said that the BJP led NDA government had failed to honour the commitments made in the AP Reorganisation Act as well and added that there would be no compromise on the issue of SCS. Referring to the drought conditions prevailing in Chittoor and Anantapur districts, the CM assured the gathering that he would instruct the authorities concerned to take steps for mitigating the drought.

He declared that drinking water would be supplied to Kuppam and Punganur mandals through HNSS Kuppam Branch canal. Enumerating the achievements of the government, he called for coordination among the district officials for making the welfare schemes of the government, a success.
