Tadepalligudem: Minister for Endowments Pydikondala Manikyala Rao said that the government has taken steps to develop the State-run residential schools so that they compete with the corporate schools. He inaugurated 3rd Zonal Sports Meet - 2016 of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential schools at the Residential Junior College in Arugolanu village of Tadepalligudem mandal on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that about 600 sportspersons from 13 residential schools and junior colleges of East and West Godavari and Krishna districts were participating in the sports meet. He said that Rs 30 crores would be spent for the development of residential school in Arugolanu. Stating that 650 students are studying in the school, Manukyala Rao said that a new building that accommodates 1500 students would be constructed.

Kapu Corporation director Yarra Naveen called on the students to strive hard to reach the goals in education as well as in sports also. Principal P Ramprasad said that the students from three districts would participate in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and other sports events.Earlier the Minister lit the sports torch and took the guard of honour from the sportspersons. He inaugurated the meet by playing Kabaddi.

Vice principal Dr PVSK Somayajulu, kindness society president Gattim Manikyala Rao, BJP Tadepalligudem municipal council floor leader Yeggina Nagababu, mandal tahsildar Nagamani and others were also present.
