Visakhapatnam: Panchayat Raj Minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu asked the officials of Brahmin, Kapu, BC and Minority Corporations to focus on grounding and running the units sanctioned after granting subsidised loans.

At a review meeting conducted with all the officials here on Saturday, the Minister felt that the units granted with subsidies from various corporations must benefit the beneficiaries adding that majority of units are not being grounded due to lack of field level inspections.

“Though the government has been spending crores of rupees to encourage educated unemployed through various corporations, it was not yielding any results due to official apathy,” he pointed out.

He informed the meeting that some units were not being grounded as the bankers were not providing loans properly and some other units were not grounded even after obtaining government subsidies. In some other cases, the bankers were not coming forward to grant loans due to poor recovery, he added. He directed the officials to make the list of beneficiaries in coordination with the bankers to yield results. Moreover, the government is providing loans for higher education through various schemes which should be implemented properly.

Pointing out that there was no focus on the tourism development in rural areas, Ayyanna Patrudu asked the officials of tourism department to concentrate on the tourist spots like Lambasingi, K D Peta, Tandava, Upamaka, Revupolavaram, Dharapalem and Valasampet in the district. He suggested that if the department build cottages, ropeway, adventure sports and a restaurant at Lambasingi, it would attract tourists.

A canteen, running water and toilets must be provided at Alluri Sitarama Raju Park at K D Peta. Executive director of BC Corporation T J Muralikrishna, SC Corporation executive director Mahalakshmi, tourism department executive director Sriramulu Naidu, district tourism officer Jnanaveni and representatives of other corporations were present.
