Eluru: In a sensational incident that rocked the city, victims of a gold fraud abducted two women, who cheated them, in broad daylight near the Collectorate here on Saturday.

According to an eye witness, two women – hailing from Tadepalligudem - were obstructed by a group of five women, who came in an auto. They had a verbal duel for a while, later the group of five pushed the two women into the auto. When the media contingent, who was covering a programme at the Collectorate, questioned the group over the turn of events, they were told that the two women cheated them in the name of gold ornaments and whisked them away from the area.

It is learnt that the two women, cheated people in Madicherla village in Krishna district, recently in the pretext of selling gold ornaments at lower rates. They collected money from the gullible villagers to the tune of Rs 10 lakh and vanished from the area.

The irate villagers on Saturday reached the Collectorate and whisked the two women away. Though, no complaint was lodged with the police, reports suggest that the women were taken to a public representative with a hope of settlement.
