Vijayawada: Adventure Club of Andhra Pradesh (ACAP) founder K Ranga Rao said that the Indian Mountaineering Organization (IMO) would conduct sports climbing in three categories of speed climbing, lead climbing and bouldering.
Addressing the media on Monday, he said that IMO had divided the country into 6 zones for conducting sports climbing in three sections: sub-junior girls and boys from 8 years old to 13 years old, junior girls and boys from 13 years old to 16 years old and senior men and women from 17 years and above. Ranga Rao said that ACAP would select 26 sports climbing candidates with the help of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) at Youth Hostel ground in Hyderabad on November 19, and 20. He said that IMO would conduct south zone selections in Bangalore on November 26 and 27.
He also said that ACAP would build a sports climbing wall with the economical support of SAAP and others. “Last date to register for the selections is November 17. Further details can be had on 9394883999 and 9849270575,” said Ranga Rao.
