Vijayawada: The unrelenting bank associations, which are opposing the inattention of RBI towards resolving problems of banks due to demonetisation scheme, are going to hold demonstration here on January 3 as part of protests by the associations in all State capitals.
- Bank union leaders say that Central bank failed to supply adequate cash to banks, causing hardships to staff and public
- Demand transparency in allotment of cash and compensation for staff who worked overtime during note ban
All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) will participate in the protest. Speaking to The Hans India, AIBEA general council member and Andhra Pradesh, Telangana federation vice-president Hanumantha Rao and another vicepresident K S Rao said the associations would hold demonstrations in all State capitals on January 3.
They said that the associations would hold demonstration at KDCC bank on Bandar road here on January 3. They said the AIBEA and AIBOA put demands before RBI and several of them were not resolved till now. RBI was still not taking adequate steps and both banking public and banking staff are facing problems even after 50 days of announcing note ban November 8.
“RBI is not supplying enough cash to all banks and branches and majority of ATMs also not restored in the country” they said. They demanded that the RBI must ensure transparency in supply of cash to banks. They said the banks associations had already demanded to announce CBI inquiry on instances of huge new currency notes with some big persons when branches were starved of cash.
The bank association leaders said that the AIBEA and AIBOA had already warned RBI that if RBI is not able to supply adequate cash to banks, all the cash transactions in banks would be suspended till sufficient cash is supplied to banks.
They said the associations were also demanding compensation to employees and officers for over time duty at the banks and families of general public, bank customers and bank staff who lost their lives recently due to demonetisation.
The leaders said that Andhra Bank employees union general secretary Kondala Rao, Canara bank employees union state general secretary Ranga Rao and national leaders of AIBEA and AIBOA would participate in the demonstration.
