Bear caught in trap dies
A bear which was injured recently on getting caught in a trap laid by hunters in Gogulagundam region of Bairluti range in Atmakur forest division succumbed to injuries on Sunday.

The forest officials secretly cremated it near Ramayyakunta base camp in the wee hours of Sunday and all evidences were ‘wiped out’.
It appears that the forest officials did not take adequate precautions in spite of being alerted by The Hans India about a 200-kg bear getting trapped in the trap laid by hunters.
The animal rescue team saved it and rendered first aid, but to no avail. The animal succumbed to injuries. Assistant Curator of Forests confirmed the news but said that a panchanama was conducted. However, he was silent on who could have killed the bear.
Why the sniffer dog allotted to the division was not pressed into service to probe the death was best known to the forest department officials.
