Vijayawada: YSRCP district president and former Minister K Parthasarathy alleged that Chief Minster Chandrababu Naidu was encouraging defections from the Opposition party into the ruling party to strengthen his party for winning the 2019 Assembly elections.

YSRCP leaders staged a dharna at Dharna Chowk here on Friday as part of the State-wide protests against the defections. Speaking on the occasion, former minister Parthasarathy said that defected ministers and MLAs should resign and recontest the elections.

He said that the ruling party leaders are misusing the funds meant for digging the ponds in the state in order to win the next elections in 2019.YSRCP Trade Union state president P Gowtham Reddy alleged that the ruling party leaders had no respect for Constitution. “All section of people should support the Opposition in order to protect the democracy and Constitution, he added.

CPI city secretary Donepudi Sankar said that the Chief Minister has failed to conduct all-party meeting in the state to discuss the people’s issues. CPM leader Ch Babu Rao, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation YSRCP floor leader B Punyaseela and YSRCP city president Vellampalli Srinivas and VMC corporators also spoke on the occasion.
