Transformer catches fire after lightning strikes

Tirupati: Power supply was disrupted in some localities after a transformer on TUDA office road caught fire after lightening struck it on Thursday. The traffic was also paralyzed for more than an hour on the busy road linking the city with Tirumala bypass road with the blazing transformer on the road side panicking everyone. Before the Transco personnel reached the area the transformed is completely burnt. The pilgrim city experienced light rain accompanied by lightening on Thursday evening bringing some respite to the scorching heat to the denizens.
