Government guest houses to turn tourist rest houses

Eluru: The District administration has decided to bring all the government guest houses in the district under the control of District Tourism Promotion Council to develop them as tourist rest houses.West Godavari district Collector K Bhaskar on Saturday disclosing this at the District Tourism Promotion Council meeting held at Collectorate said that the Panchayat Raj, R and B and Irrigation departments are unable to maintain their guest houses in the district.
In view of this, it has decided to hand over those guest houses to District Tourism Promotion Council to make them as tourist rest houses. These guest houses will be developed by private tourism operators, he added. The meeting also decided to construct a Tourism Bhavan in Eluru with modern facilities.
The Tourism Bhavan will have an information Centre, Railway, RTC and private booking centres. All the tourism related information will make available in this centre. The Tourism Promotion Council office will also be established in this Tourism Bhavan.The Guest houses will be allotted 40 per cent to VIPs and important government officials and 60 per cent will be allotted to private parties tourists who visit the district.
