Kadapa: In view of 2019 general elections and fast changing political developments, the TDP is preparing ground for strengthening party at grass root level. As part of this initiative state agriculture minister and who was also in charge minister for Kadapa district S. Chandra Mohan Reddy during his recent tour had discussions with the party local leadership over the issue.

According to the confidential sources the in-charge minister wanted the party leaders to concentrate on bringing main leaders of YSR Congress at constituency level and MLAs into the party as they would placed in higher positions if migrated to TDP.

It may be recalled that the TDP had secured only one Rajampet MLA seat in 2014 elections against a total of 10 assembly segments in the district. YSR Congress had remained strong by securing two MP seats and nine assembly segments in those elections and also voted to power in Zilla Parishad and all municipalities including Kadapa Municipal Corporation in local body elections.

However TDP was able to increase its strength to three by roping in Badwel MLA Jayaramulu, Jammalamadugu MLA C Adinarayana Reddy, and his brother MLC Narayana Reddy, and MLC Batyala Changala Rayudu (Railway Kodur) into the party. With the same sprit the TDP has cracked the strong hold of YSR Congress in Pulivendula by defeating YSR family member YS Vivekananda Reddy who contested as a candidate for recent local body constituency MLC elections.

According to party sources three YSRC MLAs are contemplating to join with TDP in coming days as they were assured of placement in government nominated posts. “Our aim is bring TDP in to power by 2019 elections in Kadapa district. Some MLAs desire to join TDP in coming days” said a party senior leader.
