Tirupati: The internship training being offered by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Tirupati proving a boon to the students of electronic and communication engineering courses in the district. The BSNL, Tirupati started the four week internship in plant training two years back in 2015 for the benefit of the students studying electronic and communication engineering both three year diploma offered by polytechnic colleges and four year graduate course offered by engineering colleges.
Before BSNL introduced the training, the students of electronic and communication engineering were to go to the any of the three cities-Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad for the training which is immensely useful for them as it provide them practical knowledge on the telecommunication systems and network, firsthand knowledge on the developments in the telecommunication field and for submitting the project report which is a must for the graduates for obtaining the degree.
This year, the BSNL conducted the four week training from April 26 to May 25 during the summer holidays for the convenience of the students and the certificate were issued to the students, who have successfully completed the four week
internship here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager MSA Nuton said that the training intend to enhance the knowledge in communication technology and the students were imparted training during the four week internship. As many as 52 students including girls were imparted training in the first batch and certificates were issued to them.
DGM (Administration and Planning) Ramesh Babu said that arrangements were made for imparting training in BSNL centres including Chittoor, Madanapalle and Srikalahasti for the convenience of the students. Kokila, a student of Vemu Engineering College at Kothakota, said BSNL offering internship avoided her going all the way to Chennai or Bengaluru for the training. This also saved much time and also expenses for stay and transport in the city, she added.
Gitanjali, a student of Government Women Polytechnic College at Palamaner said the training helped her gain practical knowledge in telecommunication and networking. Efforts are on to give publicity to the training programme to get more students for internship course, Sub-divisional engineers P Jeevaiah and B Mohan Reddy involved in the training course said.
