Syed Naseema, a final year BSc student of St Joseph Degree College, topped district in the results declared by the Rayalaseema University (RU) on Friday. Around 44,161 students appeared from 15 governments, 10 aided and 70 private degree colleges in the district. Around 16,620 students from the total of 44,161 have passed the exams.

Kurnool: Syed Naseema, a final year BSc student of St Joseph Degree College, topped district in the results declared by the Rayalaseema University (RU) on Friday. Around 44,161 students appeared from 15 governments, 10 aided and 70 private degree colleges in the district. Around 16,620 students from the total of 44,161 have passed the exams.

The passing percentage was only 50 per cent this year. In previous year, it was 65 per cent. The reason behind declining the pass percentage was known to be jumbling system. The exams in jumbling system have been conducted in 55 centres. Girl students outsmarted boys with pass percentage of 57 percent and only 26 per cent boys passed the exams.

Around 29 students from 31 different groups have bagged top ranks and received appreciation from the Vice-Chancellor of the Rayalaseema University. Sayed Naseema, who is a BSc student with subjects botany, microbiology and chemistry stood district topper by scoring 1568 marks out of 1800.

Speaking to The Hans India, Naseema said that she is feeling elated on achieving highest marks. She attributed her success to her parents and lecturers. A chemistry lecturer, who guided the district topper, said that Naseema has made the
college proud.
