Collector sees red over pending school works
West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar vented his ire on the officials of education department for their negligence in taking up the construction works of playgrounds in various government schools in the district. He reviewed the progress of ‘Sarva Siksha Abhiyan’ with the officials at the Collectorate here on Thursday.

He reviewed the progress of ‘Sarva Siksha Abhiyan’ with the officials at the Collectorate here on Thursday.
Speaking to the officials, he said: “If you show Rs 30,000 for Rs 3,000 work in the estimates and disburse crores of rupees among yourselves, how will the funds will be sufficient for the works.” He added that some officials are more concerned about their 10 per cent commission than the real work. In the government and zilla parishad schools, the officials have to construct dais in 359 schools. However, it is observed that works only started in eight schools.
Later, while reviewing the supply of school textbooks, K Bhaskar said that he warned the officials regarding the text books supply from six months. “I warned you to take steps in 25 meetings. However, no action from education department officials was taken up in this regard. It is really saddening that the students did not get the textbooks in time” he said.
