Vijayawada: City people and all heavy vehicle drivers faced hardships on Vishakhapatnam- Chennai National Highway due to state government’s Nava Nirmana Deeksha (NND) event in the busiest junction at Benz Circle here on Friday. Opposition party leaders opposed conducting NND at the Benz Circle because several play grounds were available in the city to organise these meetings, but state government conducted the NND meetings on main roads without considering the inconvenience to the public.

Police officials diverted the vehicles movement on National Highway from 4 am to 12 pm here on Friday for making success of NND event. City people faced traffic problems due to diversion of several local buses and autos to other areas in the view of NND and people were confused due to not being aware of the new routes for reaching other areas via Vijayawada.
APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said that all section of people were facing traffic problems due to NND program at city and alleged that the state government has spent crores on NND through advertisements. He said that Congress party would also conduct meetings on main roads while CM would repeat to conduct meetings like NND programs on main roads.
CPI city secretary D Shankar said that CM has violated the rules and regulations through conduct NND meeting on busiest road and CPI party leaders would fight legally, regarding NND event. He reminded CM has not spoken over Special Category Status issue and state share in combined assets from Hyderabad in the NND program.
