The Kovvuru and Jangareddigudem sub-division police arrested five persons involved in theft cases in separate incidents in Tanuku and Jangareddigudem on Tuesday.According to police, Tanuku police arrested Vandrasi Ananda Kumar of Madhuravada area of Visakhapatnam and recovered 31 sovereigns of gold ornaments from him and arrested another two for indulging in selling of the stolen gold ornaments.

Eluru: The Kovvuru and Jangareddigudem sub-division police arrested five persons involved in theft cases in separate incidents in Tanuku and Jangareddigudem on Tuesday.

According to police, Tanuku police arrested Vandrasi Ananda Kumar of Madhuravada area of Visakhapatnam and recovered 31 sovereigns of gold ornaments from him and arrested another two for indulging in selling of the stolen gold ornaments.
Vandrasi Ananda Kumar, an inter-district thief targeted the apartments in Tanuku and surrounding areas during March and April. He broke open the locked doors of the apartments and decamped with a big booty of gold ornaments. Tanuku SI G Srinivasa Rao registered cases against him on complaints received from the victims.

Ananda Kumar has given the gold ornaments to Desala Sriramachandra Rao of Peddabrahmadevam village in East Godavari and Visvasu Anil Kumar of Ravikampadu village in Tondangi mandal of East Godavari for sale. The police found Ananda Kumar, wandering suspiciously around the Peravali Y Junction area in Tanuku and had taken him into custody. On interrogation, he confessed that he committed the thefts in the apartments and revealed him the names of other two persons.

He said that these two people sell the gold ornaments stolen by him. On his confession, the Tanuku police arrested Sriramachandra Rao and Anil Kumar and recovered 31 sovereigns of gold ornaments stolen in two apartments. Tanuku CI Chinta Rambabu said that the recovered property worth Rs.6.20 lakhs.

In another incident, Jangareddigudem police arrested Telata Lakshmi of Telagapamula tribe in a bus bound to Jangareddigudem from Yadavole village in West Godavari district. The police seized 8 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs.1.60 lakhs and arrested her.

In another case, the Jangareddigudem police arrested an old criminal Veepu Venkanna and recovered two liquor bottles, a computer and electronic gadgets worth Rs 50,000, according to Jangareddigudem DSP J Venkatrao.
