Kadapa: The aim of the state government in providing water for agriculture operations and drinking water purpose under Neeru- Chettu scheme is not fulfilled. Instead it has turned a boon for the contractors and some politicos to earn good money as large scale irregularities have taken place in the scheme in Kadapa district.
Despite the issue raised by opposition MLAs during the general body meetings, in vain several times the administration has turned a blind eye at the behest of the ruling party in the district. According to the sources there was massive mishandling witnessed in the 18 silt removal works. Construction cost at Rs 1.10 crore taken up under Neeru-Chettu in Chapadu,
Morrayepalle, Godevanka, Alladupalle, Devalalu, Tippi Reddy palle Vedururu, Khadar palle, Nagayapalle , Sidha Reddy palle with substandard material led to farmers facing difficulties for performing agriculture operations.

According to the sources a check dam which was constructed at the estimated cost of Rs 10 lakhs in Goderu stream at Badradripalle washed away within 6 months of its construction. Hence crops in 120 acres under Goderu stream were destroyed following the bunds that were breached. “Farmers in Badradripalle incurred huge crop losses as bunds breached three times in the last Kharif season” G.Ramasubba Reddy of Badradripalli told The Hans India.
In another incident, restoration of old check dam at Tippe Reddy palle taken up at Rs 10 lakh cost was not useful to the farmers instead the water is seen flowing on the roads following the increase of check dams height. He said that a detailed report would be submitted to the government after the enquiry report is received.
