The representatives of AP Textile Federation met the Finance minister in his chamber at Secretariat in Velagapudi on Thursday and submitted a representation in this regard.

On this occasion they brought to the notice of Finance minister that there were no taxes on textiles earlier. They said the small time traders who are depending on textile business for their livelihood will suffer due to imposing of taxes in the GST regime. They suggested that taxes should be imposed at raw material and cloth manufacturing units itself.

Reacting to their representation Minister Yanamala said that he has already told the Centre for not imposing GST tax on textile. Not only AP other states like Haryana, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu too urged the Centre for not bringing textile under the purview of GST regime, he said.
