Input subsidy of Rupees 15,000 per hectare announced in drought-hit areas
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to provide input subsidy of Rs 15,000 per hectare to drought hit farmers irrespective of crop insurance. This was announced by minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, after a review meeting of CM with TDP leaders of Anantapur district at his residence in Undavalli on Saturday.
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has decided to provide input subsidy of Rs 15,000 per hectare to drought hit farmers irrespective of crop insurance. This was announced by minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, after a review meeting of CM with TDP leaders of Anantapur district at his residence in Undavalli on Saturday.
Disclosing the details, Somireddy said the government would provide Rs 1,680 crore as input subsidy for13.21 lakh farmers who lost their crop in 12.07 lakh hectares. “The subsidy amount will be deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers through treasury, based on their Adhaar cards,” he said.
“We are providing Rs 1500 crore for Anantapur district alone. For Kadapa and Kurnool districts another Rs 100 crores will be given as input subsidy. Remaining Rs 80 crore of input subsidy will be given to Chittoor, Nellore, Prakasam and Srikakulam districts,” minister said. Responding to the comments of PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy he demanded to know how much amount of input subsidy was given by the then Congress government for Anantapur district, which he belongs.
