Srikakulam: Proposed nuclear power plant (NPP) affected village, Kovvada residents in Ranastalam mandal prevented structure values survey on Monday by demanding to resolve their pleas first.

When special deputy collector (SDC) for land acquisition, J.Seetharama Rao and Ranastalam tahasildar, Sanapala Sriramulu reached the village to survey structure values the locals opposed them and staged agitation under the leadership of the village surpanch, Mylapalli Polisu.

They demanded to clear payments to their assigned and encroached lands before initiating structure values survey (assessment of construction values).

On the occasion the villagers detained the officials in the village by surrounding them and squatted before them not to start survey without clearing their demands.

The officials pacified the agitators by assuring to clear the payments for assigned and encroached lands if all the villagers cooperated to officials. We explained pros and cons to the villagers in payment of compensation and reasons for delay as the villagers made complaints on each other over land compensation payment which is main reason for the delay the SDC told The Hans India.
