Visakhapatnam: A six-member inter-state dacoit gang barged into a house of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) teacher K Satyanarayana at Darapalem near Simhachalam in the city on Tuesday night, threatened the inmates with guns and sharp-edged weapons and made good with 240 gm of gold ornaments.

The masked gang threatened the Satyanarayana’s wife Lakshmi and his daughter with dire consequences and forced the mother and daughter to part with their ornaments at knife-point. The incident took place around 7.30 pm, while Satyanarayana was not at his home.

According to Lakshmi, her daughter returned home from tuition at 6 pm. After closing the main door, she was working in kitchen and observed that someone knocked the main door. Suddenly, the gang used the rear entrance to gain access to the kitchen and threatened her to part with gold and money.

The gang warned mother and daughter do not shout and complaint police. However, Lakshmi shouted for help and the gang slipped into dark. As the house was in an isolated place and easy to escape on the BRTS road.

Police and dog squads rushed to the spot and started collecting clues. DCP (Law and Order, North zone) K Fakeerappa said that they were suspecting that inter-state gang might have committed the crime and formed a special team to nab the gang as soon as possible as the gang may strike at other places in the region.

With the recent dacoity in Vijayawada and the latest in the city, the senior police officials are suspecting that some of the local criminals were clubbing hands with the inter-state gangs and committing the crimes.
