The GMC made a proposal to construct another two bridges, without dismantling the existing flyover. It is actively considering another proposal to construct a six-lane flyover bridge without destroying the flyover taking future traffic needs of the city.
For this purpose, the GMC has called for the preparation of Detailed Project Report and for submitting the Technical feasibility Report from the transport experts.

National Consultants and Planning Environment Consultants submitted tenders to conduct feasibility, which will take some more time.

The GMC is also studying another proposal to construct two under-bridges for the smooth flow of the traffic at Brodipet flyover bridge. While, one under-bridge will come up on one side of the bridge, another under bridge will be at another side of flyover bridge. When the GMC proposed to extend the existing the flyover in Brodipet, the traders who will lose their shops and business mounted pressure on the people’s representatives to drop the idea. Later, the VGTM UDA came forward to expand the existing Brodipet flyover. The conducted feasibility study reports but it was confined to papers.

According to sources in the Transport Department, there are three lakh vehicles in Guntur city. On an average every day, nearly 40-45,000 vehicles pass on the Brodipet flyover. If the flyover is developed, vehicles will pass smoothly and it could be able to withstand for increasing the traffic rush.
