Government sanctions three sports academies
The government sanctioned three sports academies, including Archery, Cycling and Riffle Shooting, to the district. In each academy 20 students will be given training in the respective sports.
Visakhapatnam: The government sanctioned three sports academies, including Archery, Cycling and Riffle Shooting, to the district. In each academy 20 students will be given training in the respective sports.
Disclosing the details of the academies at a press conference here on Friday, district sports development officer June Gallyot said that the district-level selections will be conducted on July 16 and 17.
District Collector is the chairman of the Selection Committee while DSDO, senior coaches of the respective sports are the members in the committee.
The selections for the Riffle Shooting and Archery will be conducted at Paravada Samskruthi Global School on July 17, while selections for the cycling will be conducted at Aqua Sports Complex, RK Beach on July 16.
Meanwhile, day coaching would be given to the interested students in the football, hockey, basketball, kho-kho kabbadi and weightlifting. Sports material, playing kits and nutritious food would be supplied to the players. The day coaching centres would be opened at Narsipatnam, Yelamanchili and in the selected Agency areas also, the DSDO said.
