SVU campus students hit hard
Students are suffering due to severe shortage of permanent teaching staff at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) here. Several departments in the SVU have failed to hire faculty on outsourcing basis even after one month of beginning classes. The NAAC accredited SVU with A+ grade but varsity still to fill permanent faculty in existing vacancies.

Several departments in the SVU have failed to hire faculty on outsourcing basis even after one month of beginning classes. The NAAC accredited SVU with A+ grade but varsity still to fill permanent faculty in existing vacancies.

Instead, every year, the varsity officials are appointing Teaching Assistants (TAs). According to sources, the SVU should appoint more than 147 TAs. There are allegations that the SVU recruited TAs without following rule of reservation. A research scholar filed a petition in the High Court of Hyderabad against the SVU for irregularities in recruiting of TAs.
It is learnt that the High Court had cancelled all the appointments of TAs and directed the SVU officials to issue a fresh notification for appointments of TAs. Even after 20 days of court directions, the varsity did not issue fresh notification.
More than 6,000 students admitted in various courses in the campus are facing hardships in the absence of sufficient teaching staff. Students, who took admissions into the law and engineering courses, are solely depending on TAs as they don’t have permanent teaching staff.
Speaking to The Hans India, P Hemanth Kumar, a MCA final year student at SVU, expressed displeasure over lack of teaching staff and lamented that delay in recruitment of TAs will lead to incompletion of syllabus. On this issue, when the correspondent tried to contact SVU V-C A Damodaram, he was not available.
