Kurnool: A father attacked his daughter with a knife for not accepting a marriage proposal brought by him. Before the victim’s mother could realise what had happened she found her daughter in a pool of blood. With the help of others, she rushed her daughter to Kurnool General Hospital where the girl is undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, her father surrendered himself to the Bethamcherla police.

According to sources, the victim Pushpanjali is staying with her parents Rama Narasaiah and Lakshmi Devi at Sesha Reddy Nagar in Bethamcherla mandal.

She was said to be pursuing an Open University degree and was into an affair with a guy of the same locality. On learning of his daughter’s affair, Rama Narasaiah decided to get his daughter married somewhere else.

With such an intention, he brought a proposal but it was rejected by his daughter Pushpanjali. Then she revealed that she was in love with a guy living in the same locality. Despite her father’s opposition, she vowed to stand by her decision and marry the guy whom she loved.

Vexed with the attitude of his daughter, in a fit of rage, Rama Narasaiah stabbed his daughter with a knife indiscriminately.
Before Lakshmi Devi, the victim’s mother, could realise what had happened; a bleeding Pushpanjali fell on the ground.

Lakshmi Devi with the help of neighbours rushed the victim to Kurnool General Hospital. Condition of the victim is stated to be critical. After the attack, Rama Narasaiah straight away went to Bethamcherla police station and surrendered himself to the police revealing the incident that had taken place. Bethamcherla police registered a case and seized the weapon used by him.
