Vijayawada: Varalakshmi vratam was performed with gaiety and fervour in the city on Friday. Thousands of women performed special puja at Durga temple on Indrakeeladri.
Temple authorities have made special arrangements in the temple for the special prayers. A large number of women attended other temples in the city and offered prayers to mark Varalakshmi vratam.
Goddess Kanaka Durga was adorned as Varalakshmi to mark the occasion. Durga temple executive officer A Surya Kumari supervised the arrangements on Durga temple.
