Vijayawada: The famed Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri hills is geared up to host nine days Dasara festival celebrations from Thursday.
The temple trust board and officials have made elaborate arrangements for devotees and the entire temple premises were decorated with flowers and illuminated with lights for the grand occasion.
The two Chief Ministers from Telugu States--N Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrashekhar Rao will visit the temple on the festival occasion.
But the secrecy is being maintained by officials about Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's proposed Durga temple visit.
Meanwhile, the State government has already announced that the Dasara festival will be celebrated as the State-level festival.
According to temple officials, the devotees will be allowed for darshan on Thursday, the first day, from 8.30 am after completion of snapnaabhishekam. The Goddess Durga will be decorated as Swarnakavachalaankruta Durga Devi on the first day of total 10 different alankarams in the nine days festival.
The darshan is allowed from 3 am to 11 pm for remaining eight days. The devotees will be allowed from 1.30 am on September 27 when the Goddess will appear to devotees as Sri Saraswathi Devi on the Moola Nakshatram,the birth star of Goddess, on the auspicious day of the festival. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will present silk clothes to Goddess on the same day.
Regarding Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s visit, Temple Assistant Public Relations Officer Balaramtold The Hans India, the Telangana officials have formally informed the Chief Minister and family members will visit the temple without mentioning the specific schedule.
If K Chandrasekhar Rao visits the temple, it would be a special occasion in the festival celebrations as two Chief Ministers from Telugu states visiting the temple to participate in the festival, which never happened in the past, he said.
It may be noted that K Chandrasekhar Rao vowed to donate a nose-stud, if the Telangana state became reality. As part of it, now K Chandrasekhar Rao has plans to visit the temple, he said.
The police have made elaborate security arrangements and deployed 5,500 personnel. ClosedCircuit cameras have been setup and barricades erected to maintain queue lines from Vinayaka Swamy temple near to Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Office.
Police Commissioner Goutam Sawang and Executive Officer Surya Kumari said that necessary arrangements have been made with coordination of all departments.
Goddess Durga idol at AP Bhavan
The Durga temple management is going to install a 5ft idol of Goddess Durga at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi on September 27.
The priests of Durga temple and higher officials of State government would take part in the programme. Special puja will be performed during the Dasara festival occasion and later regular pujas will be offered to deity at AP Bhavan premises.
People of New Delhi, especially Telugus can visit the Goddess Durga at AP Bhavan and perform pujas also, saidTemple Vaidic Committee member Shankar Sandilya.
He also said that Goddess Durga would be taken around the MaadaStreets during the nine days of festival and it has been introduced first time from this year.
