Visakhapatnam: Nearly, 50 tribal farmers of Chatterjipuram village at Rolugunta mandal from Narsipatnam division in Visakhapatnam district came all the way from Agency area and staged a protest against the tampering of land records in webland portal by a tahsildar near GVMC in the city on Monday.

According to sources, nearly 13 families belonging to Gadaba (Particularly vulnerable tribal group) tribe are practising cultivation in 25 acres of dry land in survey numbers 131 and 139 in MK Patanam revenue village for the past four decades. Even in land records, it was recorded these as tribals in column No 13 and No 3 Adangal.

However, in 2003, one Meesala Subbanna, a prominent Congress leader in the region, filed an injunction case – O.S. No. 362/2003 against these tribals.

Interestingly, the then Tahsildar Lakshmana Dasu gave deposition in court confirming the tribal farmers are in possession of the said land and thus the tribals won the case.

According to Ajay Kumar of Swaraj Abhiyan, when the State government introduced the electronic Adangal/Pahani, the tribals farmers names disappeared from the land records.

After taking up the matter to higher authorities, intervention of Chodawaram MLA KSN Raju and filing of enquiry report by Mandal Revenue Inspector and Mandal Surveyor, names of the tribals got entered in the cultivation account in the webland.
“But once again things went wrong.

When we casually verified these survey numbers online in the month of July this year, we were taken aback to see all the tribal farmers names were removed,” he said alleging that Rolugunta Tahsildar Pentakota Appalanaidu uploaded the names of a few politically influential people in the webland portal as they belong to Congress and Communist Party of India.

Tribals demand probe

Speaking to The Hans India, the tribals demanded Collector Pravin Kumar to order for a special inquiry into the webland tampering issue and take action against the Tahsildar Pentakota Appalanaidu and VRO Srinivasa Rao, who are acting hand in glove with the local political leaders.
