A six-member student team from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada won the runner-up position in Open Innovation Hackathon-2017 jointly organised by AP government and the University of Berkely California which was conducted at KL University in Guntur. 

A six-member student team from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada won the runner-up position in Open Innovation Hackathon-2017 jointly organised by AP government and the University of Berkely California which was conducted at KL University in Guntur.

In a press release on Wednesday, JNTU Kakinada informed that their team of students has been shortlisted for the semifinals out of 60 teams and then shortlisted for the finals among 30 teams which participated from across the nation.

JNTU informed that their students who are studying their fourth year of Mechanical Engineering S Harshita, J Deepika, V Monica, Md Abdul Waris, Y Hari Charan and Y Kiran had given a presentation on ‘Effective Prawn Cultivation’ using IBM Watson Kinetise Software and explained how effectively their ideas can help in the promotion of aquaculture in a large scale manner.

The JNTU student team secured the runner-up position while Dr L Suma Latha, Professor of CSE coordinated the programme and guided the students to win the project in the Open Hackathon. The Semifinal and final rounds were conducted at KL University.

On Wednesday JNTU Vice-Chancellor Prof VSS Kumar appreciated their efforts and Distributed the certificates to the runner-up student team. Rector Prof K Purnanandam, Principal Prof GVR Prasada Raju, HoD Prof M Kumara Swamy were present at the programme.
