AP police made scape goats
The arrest of Vizag Crime Investigation Team by ACB sleuths of Rajasthan on Monday stirred a hornet’s nest. Responding on the issue, Commissioner of Police T Yoganand said that they have yet to know the facts about the incident for which a special team led by DCP (crime) branch Shemushi Bajpai already rushed to Rajasthan to do an independent inquiry.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths of Rajasthan arrested Inspector of Crime Wing (North Division) RVRK Choudhari, Sub-Inspectors Sk Sharif (Parawada police station) and Gopal Rao (MR Peta police station) and constable of One-Town police station S Hari Prasad for accepting the bribe of Rs 25,000 from the accused Shravan Soni and Hanuman Prajapat alias Ram Niwas who received the stolen three kgs of gold from a dacoity gang. They alleged that the Visakhapatnam police demanded Rs 2 lakh and initially accepted Rs 25,000.
The ACB - Rajasthan informed the AP police that they arrested the city’s four police personnel in connection with the bribe case. However, the cops are saying that other state police are not cooperating to the AP police during the inter-state investigations.
“They are several doubts in the Rajasthan incident. Our police went to Jaipur to nab the accused, who received the stolen gold from a dacoit gang, worth Rs 80 lakh. However, the accused alleged that the Visakhapatnam police demanded Rs 2 lakh bribe. There must be some influential persons in Rajasthan playing hidden role in the incident,” a senior police officer said.
“The senior officers, including the Commissioner of Police, are monitoring the dacoit’s case investigation. I do not believe that the city’s investigating team will resort to such cheap act. The whole incident is a stage managed event making our police personnel victims,” another senior cop said.
