Eluru: A roundtable of all farmers, agriculture labourers associations has called upon the farmers to participate in ‘Chalo Delhi – Chalo Parliament’ programme on November 20, 21 and 22 to pressurise the government on the minimum support prices, loan waiver and other farmers’ problems.

A roundtable was held here at Anne Bhavan on Friday. Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham District President Guttikonda Venkata Krishna Rao presided over the meeting. Rythu Sangham district Secretary A Hareram, Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham District Secretary Bandi Venkateswara Rao, AP Koulu Rythu Sangham District Secretary K Srinivas, AP Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham District Secretary Jakkamsetty Satyanarayana addressed the meeting.

The leaders criticised that the BJP led Central government had forgotten the assurances given to the farmers. They demanded that the government implement the Swaminathan Commission recommendations which suggested to announce Minimum Support Price (MSP) adding 50 per cent of the production cost. The roundtable demanded that the government enact the Support Price Act in the present parliament session.

The meeting also demanded that the government implement complete waiver of loans of farmers, tenant farmers, and agriculture labourers including private loans. The meeting said that the Chalo Delhi programme was being taken up in response to the call given by All India Rythanga Porata Samanvaya Committee.
Katta Bhaskar Rao, Ganti Srinivas, Vadavalli Ramarao and others participated in the meeting.
