Vijayawada: Throwball Federation of India (TFI) Chairman Kamal Goswami on Monday said the TFI will organise Asian Throwball Championship in India in 2018. The TFI chairman came to Vijayawada to attend the 40th senior Throwball national championship being conducted at Vikas Group of Institutions, Nunna near Vijayawada.

Interacting with media, Kamal Goswami said the TFI general body meeting to be held at Vikas College on Tuesday will take a decision on the date and venue of hosting the Asian Throwball championship. He said for the first time, the TFI would host Asian Throwball Championship in the country.

Referring to Federation cup to be held in India, he said the best eight teams in the ongoing 40th national tourney being held at Vikas College would be selected for Throwball Federation Cup to be held next year in Rajasthan.

He informed that 2018 senior nationals will be held at West Bengal. He expressed dissatisfaction over poor allotment of funds in the Union budget for sports. He appealed to all the state governments and Union government to allot more funds to encourage sports and games and provide reservation for sportspersons to get employment.

Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Odisha, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir are providing jobs to talented sportspersons in their state governments, he pointed out. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh are providing reservation in medical courses for those who won certificate in throwball competitions, he added.
